What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance Technician position at The Summit Center?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: A Facilities Maintenance Technician must be able to perform all essential functions of the position consistently and successfully.
Perform regular Maintenance tasks such as painting, drywall repairs, light fixture repairs, plumping repairs, repairs to the building or its contents on all Summit Properties.
Responsible for the completion of work orders regarding request for repair.
Inspect classrooms, offices, hallways and exterior of all Summit Buildings to determine if repairs or preventive maintenance is needed.
Participate in the cleaning and maintenance of classrooms and other areas of the agency’s property, including traveling to other locations.
Inspect classroom areas to determine if custodial work is properly done.
Respond to requests for supplies, cleanups, and garbage removal.
Assist in the moving of office and institutional furniture and equipment.
Perform regular maintenance tasks such as painting, small repairs.
Responsible for grounds maintenance tasks, to include: early start snow removal, playground cleanup, and light seasonal landscaping to maintain clean walk ways and parking lots.
Assist with training new employees in maintenance and custodial duties.
Must have flexible schedule to accommodate any needs and shifts in agency operating hours and be able to fill-in when other staff members are absent. Must be available a minimum of 1 (one) Saturday per month and be able to respond to emergency situations.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of position skill and/or ability required.
- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Graduation from High School or Vocational School, or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma (GED), and 2 years of experience in commercial cleaning practices and general facility maintenance. Must be knowledgeable and experienced in two of the following trades: carpentry, HVAC systems, electrical and/or plumbing. Knowledge of computerized work order systems and HVAC control systems.
- Must have a valid NYS Drivers License
Schedule: Full Time Monday - Friday 6:00am-1:30pm with availability approximately one Saturday or Sunday a month for about 2 hours. 37.5 hours a week

Salary: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
