Position: Senior Procurement Specialist
Reports to: Procurement Manager
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000

The Superior Group is looking for a Senior Procurement Specialist to manage the procurement of electrical materials, equipment, and services for our construction projects. This position requires a deep understanding of the electrical construction industry, estimating, budgeting, project management, and strong negotiation skills. This role is based in Columbus, Ohio, and will be a key member of our Procurement team.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the success of large-scale electrical construction projects while optimizing procurement processes and supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead procurement efforts for electrical materials, equipment, and services while developing strong supplier relationships and negotiating competitive pricing and contract terms
- Manage supplier sourcing and evaluation, identifying new vendors and negotiating favorable agreements for both materials and services
- Partner with Project Operations and estimating teams to align procurement activities with project timelines, budgets, and material requirements
- Oversee the company’s vehicle fleet, including leases, costs, maintenance programs, and vendor partnerships to optimize efficiency and reduce expenses
- Oversee project buyouts to ensure materials and equipment meet project specifications and are procured on schedule while maintaining procurement logs for visibility
- Track procurement expenditures, ensuring alignment with project budgets while identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving efficiencies
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including potential material shortages or delays, and develop proactive solutions to prevent project disruptions
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve procurement processes, integrating system-based solutions to streamline operations
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, industry standards, and legal requirements while maintaining accurate documentation of contracts, purchase orders, and RFIs
- Provide reporting and insights on procurement activities, supporting leadership with data-driven decision-making and continuous process improvements
- Occasionally travel to local and remote job sites to support procurement activities and project needs

Your Expertise
- You earned a degree in Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred
- You have 5 years in electrical construction buying, with knowledge of materials, equipment, and systems
- You have experience with procurement, distribution networks, and ERP/MRP systems.
- You’re proficient in project management and procurement software
- You have strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills
- You have strong estimating experience – must be able to read and understand estimates and manage budgets
- Bonus points for an MBA or experience in the electrical construction industry
- Bonus points for a certification in project management (PMP or similar)
