Controller
The Controller is responsible for corporate accounting and tax compliance, financial policies and procedures, and streamlining financial reporting and budgeting processes. As a key contributor to The Tech's short- and long-term financial planning, the Controller will continuously improve The Tech's operational efficiency and help senior- and mid-level management achieve the organization"s goals by clearly communicating financial data and analysis. This exempt role reports to the Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO).

Controller

Responsibilities
- Drive the annual budgeting process in partnership with senior management and The Tech's Board Finance Committee.
- Ensure accounting compliance, including for annual tax returns.
- Manage the monthly closing of the financial books.
- Manage day-to-day cash flow and cash forecasting under the guidelines provided by the CFOO.
- Establish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls (internal and external), financial policies, and guidelines.
- Complete additional related tasks or duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of experience and education in business, accounting, or related field
- Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
- Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant)
- 5 years senior-level non-profit financial experience, with a focus on accounting for donations and release of restricted funds.
- People management experience.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience managing all levels of financial reporting, annual audits, tax return preparation, and closing of books.
- Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis
- Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
- Experience in managing payroll, with focus on streamlining accounting processes
- Exemplary history of financial project management
- This is an on-site role with the possibility of flexibility for working some days at an alternative work location. Flexibility will vary depending on the needs of the job.
- Minimum 3 days of work on-site, with additional on-site days as needed.
- Weekend work may be required, especially during budgeting season or during major projects.
