Job Description
The Director of Product Management and Lifecycle will partner with a passionate team of TTS Leaders to maintain and grow the Tile Shops' product assortment vision. This position will be responsible for product strategy, portfolio diversity, and life cycle management to increase efficiency, boost productivity & drive product-related decisions making & ultimately improve customer engagement. This position will be responsible for achieving all business objectives while managing the financial implications; marketing needs to support the business's overall goal.
Responsibilities:
- Stay ahead of industry and competitive trends to drive continuous product innovation.
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from introduction and growth to maturity and decline, ensuring alignment with market demand and business strategy.
- Define product strategies and identify gaps and opportunities based on customer needs, competitive analysis, and market research.
- Lead market research initiatives, including usability studies, design trends analysis, and focus groups, to inform product development.
- Partner with product development, merchandising, and supply chain teams to bring new products to market and optimize existing offerings.
- Oversee cost structures, pricing strategies, and margin analysis at the product category level.
- Develop competitive pricing formulas to optimize retail pricing in alignment with business goals.
- Lead the pricing process with suppliers, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining product value.
- Manage and oversee the spiff program, aligning incentives with business objectives.
- Provide data-driven insights to support sales forecasting, product rationalization, and financial reporting.
- Manage supplier relationships, including contract negotiations, quality standards, and onboarding of new products.
- Work closely with Material Master, Demand Planning, and Purchasing teams to ensure accurate product setup, status updates, and ongoing maintenance.
- Serve as a key liaison between Product Development, Design, and Merchandising, ensuring product strategies align with brand vision and operational capabilities.
- Lead freight supplier oversight and negotiations, optimizing logistics costs and efficiency.
- Collaborate on Harmonization Codes & Tariff compliance to ensure international trade compliance.
- Leverage business intelligence (BI) tools, dashboards, and analytics to track product performance, forecast demand, and identify trends.
- Develop and implement KPIs to measure product success, improve efficiencies, and drive process improvements.
- Use statistical models (including regression analysis) to enhance forecasting accuracy and optimize product mix.
- Provide field sales teams with product insights, data, and training materials to enhance customer engagement.
- Develop product content strategies and oversee product marketing needs, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
- Drive process improvements across product management, ensuring standardization and efficiency.
- Oversee product onboarding, content management, and rationalization, improving accuracy and visibility.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional projects to enhance product visibility, sales enablement, and operational efficiencies.
- Travel up to 30% for supplier visits, domestic and international trade shows, and industry events.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business growth and evolving needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, IT or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
- Experience: 7-10 years progressively responsible for managing product management or product development experience.
- Proven experience in product life cycle management in a Retail/Building Material company working in a matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated history of meeting deadlines and achieving results while maintaining strong attention to detail in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Expertise in standard business processes related to product management with a focus on sales & operations planning / S&OP
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas) and hands-on experience with BI tools & product dashboards
- Hands-on ability to use BI tools & product dashboards and reporting
- Problem-solving experience providing data-driven business insights
- Demonstrated ability to build KPIs, improve efficiency through process design, and work with cross-functional teams to automate and implement processes you have designed
- Prior forecasting experience: statistical expertise (regression models) to help drive continuous improvement in forecasting
- Advanced project management skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing and reporting metrics and trends
- Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders
- Have the courage to manage, challenge, take responsibility, and handle conflict
