Material Handler Receiving Lead should master all Material Handler 2 responsibilities and prove to be efficient in equipment operation and daily transaction codes within the department. Receiving Lead is responsible for overseeing daily functions while setting a high standard for the Receiving department while assisting the Receiving Supervisor in daily operations as needed under their direction. This individual must be able to perform all Material Handler 2 responsibilities and some SAP transactions at a high level while assisting, coaching, and mentoring Material Handlers within the department. Material handlers must maintain a clean, neat, safe, and organized work area while having the ability to manually move and lift 50 lbs. regularly and frequently move and lift over 100 lbs. Job Description
- Ability to assist in and/or perform all pre-shift processes.
- Able to assist with and/or conduct the start of shift meetings in a professional manner.
- Can lead the team out on the floor with clear and concise direction.
- Perform receiving functions including but not limited to identifying product, sorting inbound shipments/returns, material movement, transferring inbound shipments to dock and/or Return bins.
- Safely and properly load/unload trucks by hand and/or using sit down forklift or pallet jack whether it is a trailer or container.
- Assist with and oversee activity in the department to ensure daily workloads are completed on time and meet expectations.
- Set a high standard for Material Handlers while performing functions within the Receiving department including but not limited to unloading, sorting, inspecting, storing, and replenishing material.
- Communicate effectively with members of the department and those in other departments.
- Identify training opportunities and mentor Material Handlers to improve skills.
- Can use computer programs for training purposes without assistance and can assist others.
- Participate in disciplinary actions as needed.
- Promote a culture of safety within the Receiving department, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
- Collaborate with the supervisor and take disciplinary action when applicable.
- Use Radio Frequency (RF) device and SAP to perform systematic functions related to the receiving, scanning, storing, and replenishment of inbound material.
- Participates in cycle counting program as needed.
- Verify received goods match purchase orders, packing lists, and invoices.
- Manually lift, move, sort, carry or place boxes and items onto/off pallets and into/out of crates.
- Use computer systems and programs to print documents and labels.
- Ability to adapt to the changes in the daily workflow.
- Ability to designate final destination for incoming materials.
- Ability to review and act on reports pertaining to SKU location, velocity set up, active replenishment, ZBIN movements, empty bin locations and pick reports.
- Teach, coach and train material handlers in the different operations within the department.
- Provide feedback and make recommendations to the Receiving Supervisor based on daily observations.
- Correctly use a variety of equipment including but not limited to sit-down forklift, Reach Truck, Order Picker, automatic wrapping machine, 2-wheeled cart, and powered and non-powered pallet jacks.
- Verify all pallets and items are clearly and accurately labeled.
- Assures all paperwork pertaining to the inventory of inbound deliveries including quality issues, discrepancies, and breakage are properly documented.
- Monitor work to assure material is properly banded and secured before storing in racks.
- Work in other departments as needed.
- Meet scheduled attendance requirements; may work long hours which might include nights and weekends when necessary to reach goals.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2 years previous warehouse/distribution experience.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Strong work ethic.
- Sit-down Forklift, reach truck, and order picker experience required.
- Current certification or ability to be certified within 30 days of start date.
- Basic organizational, mathematical, and computer skills.
- Knowledge of proper safety measures.
- Ability to manually move and lift 50 lbs. regularly and frequently up to and over 100 lbs.
- Ability to work at varying heights.
- Ability to stand frequently as well as the ability to walk, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Ability to work independently or with a group.
- Ability to move trailers around with a yard dog/switcher restricted to the complex.
