Volunteer Exhibit Guides
Do you love your Toledo Zoo? Would you like to help educate and inspire others about the natural world? The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium is looking for people to join our wonderful team of Volunteer Exhibit Guides!
Exhibit Guides are trained volunteer positions that support the Zoo’s educational and interpretive needs within the ProMedica Museum of Natural History and other locations throughout the Zoo.
If you would like to build your skills, meet new people,and have awesome experiences in a supportive and fun environment, then why not volunteer as an Exhibit Guide at the Toledo Zoo! We will work with your schedule and will provide full training and support. Volunteers receive complimentary Zoo passes and discounts on food, merchandise, and memberships.
Exhibit Guide Activities may include:
· Welcoming visitors and engaging them in conversations about our animals and conservation.
· Utilizing animal artifacts in related areas to enhance visitor experiences.
· Supporting operation of interactive exhibits such as touch tanks while educating visitors about the animals and answering questions about programs and facilities.
· Maintaining a safe and positive environment for both animals and visitors.
· Delivering brief planned interpretative talks.
· Providing support to our visitors throughout the Zoo including directions to exhibits and facilities and contacting Zoo Staff when needed.
Training & Requirements:
Exhibit Guides will complete a three-hour training session that includes an orientation, exhibit information, and basic instruction on interpretive programming. Exhibit Guides are asked to give at least 18 hours of service over a three month period, which can be scheduled in a variety of ways depending on the volunteer’s availability.
