SUMMARYThe Bonfire Compliance Inspector is a seasonal position in the Ocean City Fire Department: Office of the Fire Marshal, and will be responsible for applicable work in beach bonfire permit enforcement for the department. Normal schedule consists of evenings (~5pm – midnight), including weekends and holidays. Other duties may be assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. •Patrols and performs inspections of bonfires on the beach to determine permit compliance.•Frequently interacts with the public as a representative of the Fire Department and Town.•Understands and describes permit requirements in accordance with established policy and Town Code.•Prepares reports and written correspondence, which may be used in the enforcement of Town ordinances.•Investigates and documents bonfire-related complaints. •Routinely operates an off-road vehicle (4WD Truck, SUV, and/or UTV) in safe and responsible manner.•May issue citations and provide appropriate testimony in District Court related to permit enforcement.•May cleanup or coordinate cleanup of bonfire debris.•Assists permittees with online permit system navigation, including troubleshooting, permit/online payment processing, and rescheduling.
