What are the responsibilities and job description for the Power Line Technician II position at The Town of Tarboro?
POWER LINE TECHNICIAN II
Candidate will perform technical work in the installation, maintenance and repair of
underground and overhead lines for the Town of Tarboro Electric Department.
Candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions
involved in power line work and must have experience working at heights on power
lines. A high school diploma or GED and a valid N.C. commercial driver's license are
required. Participates in the installation and alignment of power line poles; stringing
primary and secondary lines; attaching wire to insulators and cross arms; installing,
repairing, and replacing cross arms, supports, insulators, lighting arresters and fuse
cutouts. Provides leadership and participates in the installation, construction and repair
of underground electrical systems. Operates bucket equipment to ascend to high
wires. Participates in making energized line taps and connecting wires, under
supervision of crew leader. Assists crew leader in training crew members; inspects
work of crew for adherence to instructions and trade and safety standards. Excellent
benefits and starting salary is $49,202 annually ($23.65/per hour). Applications can be
