POSITION SUMMARY
The Life Enrichment Manager plans, organizes, and implements social, recreational,
educational, and other events and programs to enhance the lives of residents within the
community

GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Supports the mission; resident life, health, and wellness philosophy; and the code of professional conduct of BHI Retirement Communities, Inc.
2. Understands and abides by the BHI Retirement Communities, Inc., employee handbook, and other policies and procedures that apply to his/her department.
3. Reports to immediate supervisor or department manager known or potential violations of the resident’s rights policy, resident abuse policy, professional ethics
statement, corporate compliance policy, HIPAA privacy policy, confidentiality policy, anti-harassment policy, zero-tolerance workplace violence policy, profanity
in the workplace policy, time-keeping policy, and other policies and procedures established by the organization.
4. Attends work as scheduled, maintains acceptable personal appearance/hygiene, follows the designated dress code policy, and keeps the work area in neat, clean,
and orderly condition.
5. Understands and successfully performs job functions. Works effectively, is precise, able to prioritize and meet job requirements and deadlines.
6. Demonstrates sound judgment and discretion in the performance of job duties.
7. Exhibits quality customer service behaviors by demonstrating kindness, tact, and courtesy toward all residents, family members, colleagues, outside vendors, and
other visitors to the BHI Retirement’s central office, communities, and other BHI locations.
8. Communicates respectfully, clearly, and effectively both verbally and in writing.
9. Treats all matters concerning the corporation, communities/locations, employees, and residents with strict confidentiality and in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
10. Complies with required training and reporting requirements, including but not limited to;
  • Immediately reports any problems or concerns, verbally or in writing, to your direct supervisor or Executive Director. Concerns may include, but are not limited to, unusual resident behavior, concerns expressed by family members or other visitors to the community and equipment malfunctions or breakdowns.
  • Participates in fire safety and other disaster preparedness education and training and responds to emergency situations in accordance with community/locations established policies and procedures and by assisting with resident evacuations, as required. Maintains knowledge and training in bloodborne pathogen exposure control plan and universal precautions.
  • Successfully completes all required in-service training, attends departmental staff meetings as required, maintains required licensure (if applicable) and
maintains relevant knowledge related to current state and federal regulations, medical, nursing, geriatric standards of practice and other pertinent information pertaining to his/her position by attending educational workshops and seminars, as approved by leadership.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Coordinates and encourages resident involvement and participation in programs and social events including, but not limited to, outings to sporting events, musicals,
plays, symphony, fine dining events or clubs, movies, fairs, festivals, educational programs and other events.
2. Develops a monthly calendar that includes a variety of daily, evening, holiday, and weekend events and activities based on the interests of the resident population.
3. Creates and distributes newsletters.
4. Meets with new residents of the community to educate them about life enrichment opportunities.
5. Solicits feedback from residents and incorporates new activities as a result. Evaluates participation and feedback related to activities/events for future
planning.
6. Promotes activities and events, as appropriate.
7. Decorates designated areas for special events and parties and provides necessary assistance to residents, helps with preparation and clean-up for such events.
8. Coordinates the transportation of residents to outside programs and events.
9. Effectively manages concerns/problems with difficult or disturbed residents. Helps to facilitate resolutions to any issues, when appropriate.
10. Recruits, trains, and supervises all volunteers used in the community.
11. Contracts outside services, entertainment, or vendors and serves as the primary contact for each.
12. Manages sign-up sheets and collects and records payments for activities, as appropriate.
13. Operates within budgetary expectations.
14. Advises leadership of any problems associated with the day-to-day operations of the department.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Required: must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, successful completion of the State’s activity course or certification.
Preferred: bachelor’s degree in relevant field and prior work experience in a long-term care or senior living setting.


ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to handle multiple inquiries and interruptions.
Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends.
May be required to drive a community vehicle and/or attend activities/event with the group.
Must be willing to complete additional training and/or obtain additional skills, as needed and/or provided by the organization.
Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical requirements for the completion of job duties may include:
  • loading and unloading of supplies and equipment. Moving and/or rearranging boxes and other miscellaneous items across short distances.
  • use of office equipment may be used while performing his/her duties: computers, fax, printer, copier, calculator and/or other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • variation of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time, with likely standing and walking. Ability to move adequately throughout the community as required to perform job duties.
  • dexterity of hands and fingers required to manipulate objects and use various types of office and computer equipment.
  • ability to see and hear within established parameters.
  • may be exposed to communicable diseases including bloodborne pathogens, subjected to residents and others with varying degrees of physical, medical, psychological, and/or behavioral impairments, and/or exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, e.g., slippery floors, chemicals, etc.
  • physical labor that requires bending, twisting, stretching, pushing, pulling, and lifting and carrying objects.
  • physical stamina to lift, push, pull, carry, or move a light to heavy objects as required to perform job duties.
