Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
We are seeking a highly motivated and very experienced complex litigation trial attorney to handle high exposure litigation from inception through trial in state and federal courts in the greater New York City metropolitan area. Executive Trial Counsel must have a proven track record of trial success defending corporations and businesses in a wide range of tort cases, including but not limited to the following : construction accidents, premises liability, product liability, trucking litigation, and wrongful death cases. The Executive Trial Counsel will partner and collaborate with other in-house law offices to deliver optimal case resolution and trial strategies and will have opportunities to parachute in to complex cases for trial in New York and surrounding states.
This position will cover the metro NY region and the selected candidate will be expected to work out of one of our NY offices in New York City, Tarrytown, or Melville. What Will You Do?
- Independently handles complex litigation and large exposure cases from case inception through trial / resolution.
- Partners and collaborates with other staff counsel offices to deliver optimal case resolution / trial strategies.
- Consults nationally / regionally with counsel colleagues to develop and execute optimal case resolution / trial strategies.
- Makes effective use of technology and automation in the practice of law, including at trial.
- Advises management on alternatives, outcomes and legal actions which could have a sizable impact on company business and future operations.
- Proactively identifies and communicates exposure and risk in a timely manner to insured clients and claim partners.
- Directs or conducts research of legal principles and precedents within area of specialization or expertise.
- Drafts substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other legal documents.
- Builds and maintains strong internal and external client relationships.
- Takes a leadership role in working collaboratively with claim and business partners to achieve results and identify / resolve issues.
- Acts as a mentor and coach to other attorneys and paralegals / staff.
- Provides internal and external training, seminars and legal updates to insured clients and claim partners.
- Reviews invoices from experts, recommends adjustments and within authority level, approve invoices.
- Provides in-depth, substantive analysis and quality reporting to insured clients and claim partners in a timely manner.
- Initiates special projects and identifies opportunities to support office goals / business needs.
- Travels as required to meet business needs. This includes within a given jurisdiction and may include handling litigation and trying high exposure litigation in other jurisdictions.
- When leading others and providing direction and oversight on cases, is able to effectively delegate, coach, develop and leverage employees' unique talents to enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Strong and persuasive oral advocacy, negotiation and writing skills

- Exceptional legal acumen including in-depth knowledge of the law, bench, bar, local jurisdictional practices and the litigation process
- Strong technical knowledge in the practice area(s) and the ability to comprehend, assimilate and communicate complex information
