About the Opportunity
This part-time, temporaryposition provides project support to the Engagement Program Manager, in supportof the Children's Media & Engagement team's mission of serving communitiesthrough partnership, access and engagement that fosters belonging and createsequitable opportunities for all. The Engagement Specialist is responsiblefor building relationships with community partners in the region of the statein which they reside, including local Rootle Ambassadors; assisting with theplanning and implementation of community engagements for children and families;and providing event promotional support on an as needed basis. The communityengagement initiatives will include but are not limited to the following : Rootle Roadster Tour, Rootle Ambassador Program, Impact Early ChildhoodEducation Summit, Family and Community Learning, and the NC State Fair.
Essential duties will include,but are not limited to : Support with planning and implementation of communityengagement initiatives and events; Support with event promotion as neededCommunication with community leaders participating in engagement initiativesand events; Administration of pre and / or post event surveys to participants;Organizing and preparing educational materials for family engagementinitiatives and events; Advising PBS North Carolina staff on best practices forengaging with various communities & audiences in North Carolina; Otherduties as assigned that further the overall mission of PBS North Carolina.
UNC System employees aregenerally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commutingdistance of their assigned duty station.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Competencies
- Driver'slicense and valid transportation required.
- Ability to be present at community engagement events as needed.
- Knowledge of the early childhood development space.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and virtual communications platforms (i.e. Zoom,Microsoft Teams).
- Exceptional organizational, written and verbal communication skills .
- Ability to advise and collaborate with PBS NC staff, program participants, andothers to resolve difficult issues in assigned program areas.
- Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of program culture, issues, andwork relationships to address situations.
- Ability to share knowledge and critical thinking processes.
- Abilityto lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to maintainand enhance professional relationships to increase credibility for buildingsupport and reaching consensus when explaining and interpreting programpolicies and procedures within assigned area(s).
