What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Lifeguard (Pool Operations and Customer Service) position at The University Club of MSU?
Scope – Part- or Full-time, 20-40 hours weekly, summer-only. Our seasonal pool complex is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. There is a required afternoon/evening onboarding session on Tuesday May 13th, or June 10th (your choice), and a date is pending for Lifeguard re-certification (if needed) in May before Memorial Day.
Duties - Guards, services, and maintains pool and pool deck. Adheres to safe practices, and creates a welcoming, friendly, and attentive customer-service-focused atmosphere. In addition to life-guarding poolside, duties include activity registration and customer service; may give private or group swim lessons utilizing the Red Cross Learn-To-Swim methodology.
Qualifications – Must be certified in lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid. Renewal certifications may be provided on site if your certification has recently expired. Those without related work experience should be able to demonstrate their involvement on a swim team or aquatics program. Successful candidates will enjoy creating exceptional experiences for others. You should be outgoing, poised, and professional. Your friendly and accommodating demeanor should reflect your understanding of safe practices. You should be inspired by and enjoy inspiring children and their families. Your record of accomplishment must show that you are dependable, reliable, and conscientious. Must be able to work well as in a team environment, and also independently.
