Advise prospective transfer and adult students regarding program offerings and admissions requirements. Plan and conduct extensive recruiting activities at community colleges and transfer college fairs.
Counselor will also serve as liaison to a strategic community college partners. Key responsibilities include scheduling visits, recruitment and providing on-site credit evaluation for prospective students and attending recruitment events at community college and graduate festivals.Counselor also conducts daily appointments with prospective transfer or adult students and provides admissions steps, requirements and general education transfer evaluations for students with in person or virtual meetings.
60% Territory Management – Serve as the main liaison to a strategic community college partner. Scheduling visits, recruitment and providing on-site credit evaluation for prospective students and attending recruitment events at community college and graduate festivals. Interaction and communication with community college counselors, academic departments, transfer students and family members.
20% Conduct daily appointments with prospective transfer or adult students and provide admissions steps, requirements and general education transfer evaluations for students with in person or virtual meetings. Review scholarship and financial aid opportunities with prospective students and or family members.
10% Assist with coordination of Transfer Recruitment Events
5% Serve as the transfer liaison with the Office of International Center
5% Other responsibilities as designed.
Additional Position Information:
Education: Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree.
Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:
Valid Driver’s license.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a higher education environment, recruitment, or youth centered environment. Preference given to candidates with experience working in Admissions as a student assistant, graduate assistant, or admissions counselor. Knowledge of university program offerings and admissions process required. Knowledge of personal computer and mainframe use in student information systems required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Public speaking skills and the ability to communicate with diverse audiences required.
Leadership:
Responsible for directing and monitoring the work of student and/or temporary workers.
Physical Requirements:
Job is physically comfortable; individual is normally seated and has discretion about walking, standing, etc. May occasionally lift very lightweight objects.
Working Conditions:
No major sources of working conditions discomfort, standard working environment with possible minor inconveniences due to occasional noise, crowded working conditions, minor heating/cooling or ventilation problems, and/or up to 40% use of PC terminal.
