Job Description
The Department of Marketing, Industrial Distribution and Economics within the Collat School of Business at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks candidates for a full-time Instructor (non-tenure track) to lead our Business Communications program beginning in the Fall of 2025. The chosen candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the Business Communications curriculum at UAB, preparing students for success as effective communicators as they leverage modern communication technologies.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Business Communications curriculum, ensuring alignment with technological advancements, industry trends, and employer expectations.
- Design and teach a wide range of Business Communications courses, including foundational and advanced topics, tailored to undergraduate, graduate, and executive education students.
- Collaborate with faculty within the School of Business to integrate communication principles into broader business curricula and support fellow instructors in enhancing their communication teaching techniques.
- Foster strong relationships with industry leaders and stakeholders to ensure program relevance, promote industry partnerships, and create experiential learning opportunities for students.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students, supporting their academic and professional growth.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must : (1) currently hold a masters degree and / or PhD, (2) have a minimum of five years of experience in corporate communications with a proven record of success, (3) demonstrate an ability to effectively teach a wide range of Business Communications courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive education levels, and (4) demonstrate an ability to effectively lead the overall Business Communications program within the Collat School of Business. The strong preference is for candidates with a degree in Business Communications, Corporate Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
