Summary :
The Vice Chair for Research will be charged with developing a nationally-known and prominent research agenda in Emergency Medicine. This role is responsible for articulating a vision of the Department's research in addition to recruiting candidates who will help fulfill that agenda. The person in this role will implement the infrastructure necessary for the agenda to be successful, as well as develop and promote projects integral to the agenda.
Job duties : Strategic planning
- Provide strategic direction, and operational oversight of the department's research programs and activities
- Work with executive leadership to establish and measure performance metrics
- Participate in the annual budgeting process in conjunction with the Chair and other Vice Chairs

UAB Medicine is the third-largest public academic medical center in the country, with more than 1,900 beds and almost 18,000 employees. UAB Hospital is the centerpiece of the UAB Health System and is the teaching hospital for the UAB School of Medicine. This acquisition added 5,000 employees, 409 beds, and outpatient facilities, which include hospitals in Birmingham, Blount, Chilton, East, and St. Clair counties; the One Nineteen campus; the Trussville Freestanding Emergency Department; imaging centers; and other clinics.
