Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 12:00pm
Job Summary: The Continuing Student Temporary Assistant is for recent UA graduates or students temporarily ineligible for student employment (due to enrolment, etc.) who are continuing the work of their student role at the University for a short-term assignment (less than one year). Performs various duties with some variety and complexity for a college or department in support of a program, project, event or other sponsored activity.
Additional Department Summary: Assists in research work to support a major research project. Duties include laser peening of various parts as well as assisting in the nano- & micromechanical characterization and microscopy of laser peened structures. This position will report to Dr. Davami.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Some UA student employment experience performing the same work for the department.
Skills and Knowledge: Familiarity with CAD software programs, basic CNC coding.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience implementing profilometers and chemical etchants for surface and material characterization, respectively. Familiarity with laser peening process and tools, nano- and micromechanical characterization tools, optical and digital microscopes.
