The University of Bridgeport is seeking candidates for a Grants Officer position. Grants Officers perform all necessary functions related to the submission of grant applications and the management of grants received by the University. This position is responsible for developing, writing, and submitting federal, state, foundation and corporate grant applications. This position assists and supports the Director of Grants in planning and implementing the strategic direction of the Grants Department. The Grants Officer works independently, as a project team lead, and as a team member depending on the scope and focus of the grant. The person is responsible for researching, identifying and matching grants and other funding sources with university needs, writing and submitting grant applications and proposals, and complying with grant requirements, including record keeping and reporting. This position will be located in Bridgeport, CT.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

- Research and secure information on funding opportunities to match Goodwin’s priorities, collaborate in defining and implementing project funding strategies;
- Apply for federal, state, local, and private grants and other solicitations, awards or initiatives to support and advance Goodwin’s mission, submitting paper and online applications as required by the funder;
- Work with project leads to maintain necessary project and financial documentation to ensure program continuity and fiscal integrity for grants;
- Maintain accurate grant records using grants management software and other common tracking tools of the Grants Department;
- Work with program leads to ensure timely submission of narrative and financial reporting to funders;
- Establish relationships with potential funding sources and steward relationships with current grant funders;
- Maintain positive, clear, and timely written and verbal communication with funders and internal and external partners;
- Represent Goodwin at meetings and events, and act as a liaison between Goodwin and prospective and current grant funders;
- Serve as a resource for Goodwin faculty and staff on grants - providing information, research, analysis, and recommendations as needed;
- Support other Grants team members with information gathering, proposal development and review;
- Conduct all work in a safe manner and follow all work safety practices.

- Proficiency in budget development as it relates to proposals and grants;
- Experience designing and developing programs with internal and external partners;
- Professional and resourceful, with the ability to work independently and contribute in a team environment;
- Ability to take initiative and effectively manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines simultaneously;
- Ability to manage a project working cross-departmentally with multiple team member input;
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills;
- Proficient in MS Office applications and database programs; proficient in online grant research;
- Understanding and knowledge of general development and fundraising activities, processes and protocols;
- Experience using grant management or similar software.
Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A/B.S.) from a four-year college or university
- Master’s Degree in related fields desirable.
- Minimum of 2 years of grant-related or comparable experience.
