Position Description:

The University of Iowa College of Nursing is currently recruiting faculty for a 100% effort (9-month academic or 12-month fiscal appointment) to establish and lead an Office of Teaching and Learning within the college to enhance leadership in nursing education among the faculty. Faculty are committed to designing and implementing curricula in which students develop critical thinking, decision-making skills, clinical judgment, cultural sensitivity, and professional nursing values in an increasingly complex health care system. We desire a strong leader who will develop programs to prepare and evaluate faculty; lead scholarship; and collaborate with faculty to secure external, programmatic funding in teaching and learning.

As a leader in nursing education, research, and practice innovations, the UI College of Nursing has received national recognition by U.S. News & World Report, ranking six of its graduate programs in the top 20 in the nation (in comparison to all public and private schools) with the DNP ranked #22 overall. Our BSN program is currently ranked Number 4 in the nation according to US News and World Report. We recently launched an MSN-entry into practice program. Our PhD program is very well respected with a steady enrollment for the past 5 years.

The individual selected will have a passion and complementary skill set to promote teaching and learning among all faculty within the college and will be required to be in person to teach and collaborate with students and other faculty. Appointment for this position may be clinical or tenure track. A successful candidate will hold the Kelting Professorship.

Application materials include a letter describing relevant experiences and interests; current curriculum vitae; and contact information for three references (contacted only with permission).

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.

Education Requirement:

  • Earned doctorate in nursing or a doctorate in a related field with a degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing

  • Current or eligible licensure as a Registered Nurse

  • Selected candidate must complete the State of Iowa Registered Nurse licensure prior to appointment

Required Qualifications:

  • Acknowledged record of service and teaching success in a school or college of nursing

  • Evidence of professional productivity consisting of publications and scholarly presentations on teaching and learning

  • Strong evaluation skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Professional leadership in nursing education

  • Continued scholarly achievement of high quality, accompanied by unmistakable evidence of national and international recognition as a scholar.

  • Consistent record of high-quality teaching at all appropriate instructional levels, including successful guidance of doctoral graduate students to the completion of their degree programs.

  • Substantial record of significant and effective service to the department, college, and/or the University and to the profession

  • Evidence of external funding
