What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rehabilitation Therapy Aide - Rehab Therapies position at The University of Iowa?
The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Rehabilitation Therapy Aide who under the supervision of a therapist will perform designated tasks related to the services provided by the department. This position will be assigned to the inpatient units and the outpatient clinic.
- Under the direction of an occupational or physical therapist, perform select exercises with patients who are recovering from neurologic/ orthopedic injuries/surgeries; assist patients with cystic fibrosis with airway clearance techniques and monitoring aerobic exercise.
- Gather and prepare equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, etc.) for the therapy session.
- Assist the therapist by moving equipment (IV poles, wheelchairs, etc.) while the therapist mobilizes the patient.
- Assist the therapist in mobilizing patients.
- Prepares, maintains, and cleans treatment areas.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.

Schedule: 8:00 – 4:30 Monday through Friday
Pay Grade: 03 https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/pay-plans/merit-pay-plan Salary: $16.97/hour

- Prefer high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience providing direct patient care to acute care inpatients.
- Experience providing techniques designed to clear airways (chest percussion, vibrating vest, coughing, etc.)
- Experience monitoring patients during aerobic exercise.
- Experience assisting patients in functional activities (getting in/out of bed, transferring, walking).
