Position Summary
The UNM StudentFinancial Aid Office seeks dynamic, highly motivated student employeesinterested in serving as a Financial Aid Peer Advisors within theOne-Stop / Student Employment team. This is an exceptional opportunity fora motivated individual to be an integral member of a progressive StudentFinancial Aid Office.
Reporting to the Financial Aid Manager, the Financial Aid Peer Advisors workcollaboratively with our University community in our One Stop Office at UNMAlbuquerque’s Main Campus. One Stop is a fast-paced environment that providesin-person and virtual customer service concerning Financial Aid and StudentEmployment opportunities and eligibility along with enrollment functionsincluding admissions and registration activities. The Financial Aid PeerAdvisors will assist with the daily front desk operations and studentemployment hiring processes. The Financial Aid Peer Advisors may serve as aliaison for high school, community, and on campus outreach events.
The candidates must represent the Student Financial Aid Office and theUniversity of New Mexico with professionalism and deliver information in apositive manner while facilitating exemplary service to idealcandidates will have excellent oral and written skills and a high sensitivityto cultural issues within a higher education setting. The successfulcandidate must also be detail oriented, organized, creative, energetic, able towork productively independently and within a team. They must possess a strongcommitment to superior customer service and understanding of the importance offinancial aid in recruitment and retention.
Responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following :
Provide exceptional customer service to a diverse community of students.
Provide student employment counseling and assist with hiring forms intake for new or returning student employees.
Stay abreast of current federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies, especially as related to security of information.
Provide current, accurate, and complete information to students and parents in person, e-mail, or virtual meetings during peak service times.
Assist in all areas of Financial Aid, including financial literacy education at high schools, community, and on campus outreach events. Outreach may include evening and weekend programs.
Assist with research and preparation of financial aid presentations for outreach / orientation, as necessary.
