The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is accepting applications for a Faculty with expertise in health services research and as a clinician working with Native American communities, student athletes, and adults. This position is suitable for appointment at the Assistant, Associate or full Professor rank, commensurate with experience and academic background, to join our Division of Community Behavioral Health. The candidate will participate in research and scholarly activities that address disparities in behavioral health services for diverse populations throughout New Mexico, with a special interest researching and evaluating school-based mental health and prevention programming. Duties will also include direct clinical services, teaching, grant writing, collaboration in team-based science, and assisting CBH faculty and staff in working with our behavioral health partners in the state.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree, PhD or equivalent;
  • Clinically trained and licensed to treat patients;
  • Experience working with American Indian populations;
  • Evidence of an established research program focused on disparities in behavioral health services to diverse populations;
  • Minimum 5 years-experience in behavioral health services program development, research and evaluation;
  • Licensable in New Mexico;
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Educational, teaching, supervision, and mentoring experience with psychology interns, post-doctoral fellows and/or trainees in multiple disciplines.
  • Successful federal, state, private foundation or comparable grant preparation experience.
  • Experience developing and submitting IRB proposals to tribal Human Subjects Research Review Committees.
  • Successful preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals.
  • Experience writing reports for funding agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Experience serving as the lead evaluator on SAMHSA grants.
  • Experience working with the Indian Health Services providing direct clinical services via telehealth.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
