We are currently building world-class institutes for the treatment of diabetes and cancer. OU College of Dentistry is looking for a Dental Assistant to join the team! The Dental Assistant will be Responsible for inventory procurement, receiving, maintenance, and distribution.Duties :
- Provides chair side dental assistance, prepares and sterilizes equipment
- Document patient care and take and develop x-rays
- May provide administrative assistance
- Assists the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures to include but not limited to placement of bases and liners and placement and removal of rubber dams, insertion, finishing, and removal of temporary restorations
- Prepares set-up trays for anesthetic, operative, prosthetic, periodontal, prophylactic, endodontic, and orthodontic dentistry
- Prepares dental equipment and materials for treatment
- Takes and develops dental radiographs (x-rays)
- Performs patient charting as instructed by the dentist
- Follows infection control protocol and prepares and sterilizes instruments and equipment
- Greets patient and gets them situated in the treatment room
- Provides patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures
- Takes impressions of patient's teeth for study casts (models of teeth)
- May perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer
- Schedules appointments, answers phones, data entry, and orders supplies
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the positionRequired education : High School Diploma or GED AND :
- 6 months as a Dental AssistantEquivalency / Substitution : Will accept completion of a dental assisting program, possession of a valid Oklahoma Dental Assistant Permit, AND possession of the Radiation Safety and Protection certification from the OK Board of Dentistry in lieu of required experienceSkills :
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
