The Financial Operations Manager reports directly to the Associate Director. The Financial Operations Manager will serve as an integral member of the Fiscal Operations team at Wharton Finance & Administration, providing centralized and comprehensive financial operations support for four administrative departments.
The Financial Operations Manager will be responsible for Workday payroll, Purchase Order / Requisitions, Concur reimbursements, reviews, and reconciliations, ensuring our financial operations processes are well-managed. The Financial Operations Manager will also assist the Associate Director with budgeting, forecasting, and financial models. The position will be knowledgeable and comfortable standardizing business processes and resource planning tools and leveraging technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness to enable fact-based, timely, and collaborative decisions that enhance the mission of Wharton and its respective departments. This position will work closely with the departments' contacts to provide guidance on financial policies and processes. In addition to the core responsibilities, this role will collaborate closely with various departments to gain insights and implement streamlined processes for more seamless financial operations.

Job Responsibilities
- Manage processes such as payroll, expense reimbursements, purchasing cards, reconciliations, and journals. Provide auditable, streamlined processing to increase efficiency and enhance standardization, assuring all financial operations and decisions adhere to University and School policies. Works closely with leadership to define and identify process deficiencies and design and implement changes to mitigate risks.
- Manage departmental fiscal year-end close, merit process, access reviews, restricted funds, tax reporting, and other annual activities.
- Assist with operating budget and financial analyses / modeling processes. Assist with the development of budgets and forecasts / projections using Hyperion, SmartView, Business Objects, BEN Financials, Excel, and other financial tools.
- Management and administration of hiring needs, including of professionals, temporary staff, and student workers. Providing training and oversight of workflows, projects, and process changes.
- Attend training and meetings to keep up-to-date in understanding of applicable financial and HR systems, policies, and procedures.
