Archival Assistant
Individual provides a variety of support functions with archival and manuscript acquisition, processing, and storage planning in an archival repository. These tasks include arrangement and description, accession record keeping, coordinating student work with appropriate faculty and staff, supervising student employees, managing the archival storage environment, and some reference duties.
Incumbent will accession newly acquired archival and manuscript collections and help prepare inventories to ready their arrangement and description. Coordinate the training and supervision of student workers with archival processing tasks. Assist with processing and preparing finding aids for archival and manuscript collections. Assist with the preparation of reformatting analog archival materials for digitization. Coordinate the storage areas for collection materials and maintain the archival supply inventory.
Assists personnel, answers inquiries, locates materials, and provides guidance related to library services. Researches and identifies resources to support informational needs. Maintains and updates online library systems and guides student employees.
Incumbent provides administrative support related to archival and manuscript recordkeeping and management which includes both clerical and contact duties and responsibilities.
Incumbent will be performing tasks that include both sedentary functions and physical activities. Working at a computer at a desk and filing documents. Pulling, retrieving, and moving collection materials in boxes and or on silver trucks generally weighing 35-40 pounds.
