Temporary Wedding and Events Assistant
The Office of Business, Hospitality and Auxiliary Services (BHAS) is seeking a Part-Time Temporary Wedding and Events Assistant to assist our Heinz Memorial Chapel Team with weekend events. Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as the first point of contact and Chapel representative when guests and visitors enter, including University members, the public, potential event space users, and Chapel donors
- Develops knowledge of Chapel products available for sale and processes cash and credit card transactions per department policy and procedures.
- Acts as a building steward, maintaining keys and badge access. Secures and opens the building
- Oversees vendor (photographers, videographers, officiants, etc.) compliance with guidelines and strict time schedules.
- Assists with event parties and guests.
- Develops an understanding of all technical aspects of the Chapel including audio and lighting systems and recorded organ system
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
Incumbent to work a minimum of two to three weekends per month. Weekend and evening work will be required in this position.
Note: This position is part-time and will pay $16 per hour. Chapel guidelines and policies need to be followed; however, each event (wedding, memorial service, etc.) requires the incumbent to be sensitive to the individuals involved. Must handle difficult and complex situations with tact and diplomacy to maintain a service-oriented environment. Weekend and evening work is essential.
Requires extended periods of standing and walking during events and tours. Requires regular traversing of the Chapel building and grounds. The ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, and lift objects up to 30 pounds are required.
A High School Diploma or GED is required. Customer service and/or event planning experience preferred.
