Job Description
The Assistant Director position works directly with the day-to-day supervision of a cluster of residence halls by meetings with staff, creating student interactions, and following up with maintenance and housekeeping concerns in the building and departmental committee work. This position will coordinate the departmental recruitment and training of professional and graduate staff.
Responsibilities
- Providing overall leadership and supervision of a residential housing area of assigned residence halls. Supervise multiple Hall Directors and Assistant Hall Directors (both full time and graduate assistants) and directly supervise one graduate assistant for programming budgets.
- Building a rapport with students, understanding their needs, and advocating for their well-being within the residential community.
- Develop the training and professional development of Hall Directors, Assistant Hall Directors (both full-time and graduate assistants) and Graduate Assistants.
- The position works directly with the planning and coordinating of all residence life functions, to include, staff selection, training, evaluation and recognition, and works collaboratively with other campus departments in providing programs and services to students living on campus.
- Serve in on call capacity and be available to consult with staff during student crisis and protocol situations with empathy and professionalism.
- The Assistant Director serves as a member of the 6-person professional residence life team that reports to the Director of Residence Life and serves as a member of the housing central staff team.

Education : Master's in Higher Education or related field.
Experience : Minimum three years of full-time professional residence life or student affairs related work experience.

University Housing has the capacity to house over 8,500 residents in 14 different on-campus residence halls / complexes and one master lease facility off campus each academic year. The department has a close working relationship with a variety of student life units and academic offices on campus. University Housing will be opening over 3,000 new beds in fall 2025 and fall 2026. Salary : The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and other qualifications and is accompanied by a standard university benefits package. This is an exempt, 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position.
