Job Description
JOB SUMMARY / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : The Research Associate contributes to the small molecule drug development efforts in Dr. Bernd Meibohm's lab and is focused on supporting preclinical drug development in animal models with specific focus on pharmacokinetic assessments, pharmacokinetic / pharmacodynamic modeling and simulation, application of pharmacometrics techniques and bioanalytical analysis using liquid-chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS / MS).
Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Works independently as well as in collaboration with other members in the Meibohm research lab to oversee and perform research work in the laboratory and provide scientific expertise and inputs on planning experiments related to the assigned research projects.
- Plans, executes, documents, and analyzes in vitro and in vivo studies in pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism.
- Performs pharmacokinetic analyses and population pharmacokinetic modeling using software packages including Phoenix WinNonlin, NONMEM and R.
- Develops and validates LC-MS / MS assays and analyze biological samples.
- Assists in managing the day-to-day activities for the assigned lab space.
- Assists in mentoring and training graduate students and junior postdocs in pharmacokinetic and bioanalytical techniques.
- Assists in gaining approval and adhering to compliance requirements for all performed experimentation.
- Presents research data at scientific meetings and conferences.
- Prepares reports, manuscripts, and presentations for publication in scientific journals / conferences
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION : Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Life Science, or a closely related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE : Three (3) years of experience in animal-based pharmacokinetic research or experience related to the duties and responsibilities listed. Must have completed three (3) years as a Post Doctoral Scholar.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
WORK SCHEDULE : This position may frequently be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
