Creates reporting specifications for new reports/dashboards/analytical tools and assists in testing/validation; ensures integrity, accessibility, and accuracy of reports/dashboards and data structures; reviews and approves user requests for access to reporting data and tools. Consults with faculty and/or staff to identify new reporting needs and provides guidance and interpretation of complex systems and data. Documents data analysis efforts (data sources, reporting specifications, tools, issue/problem resolutions). Researches and stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and data analysis tools. Responsibilities Analyzes data using standard statistical tools, methods, and techniques; and interprets results to identify significant differences in data. Consults with internal and external customers to identify user needs. Compiles and queries data. Performs related work as assigned. May develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality. Assists in defining, developing, and implementing data standards, developing data quality measures, and conceptualize, create, and maintain operational and research data models for visualization and statistical analysis. May establish and maintain standard work procedures governing the appropriate use of data. Other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics, statistics, or a related field. 4 years of business experience in data programming (SQL, Python, etc). 2 years of experience using Tableau or similar visualization tools to build dashboards and analyze data. Knowledge of statistics and analyzing data sets; of running queries, report writing, and presenting findings; of data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques; and of record keeping, including security procedures for handling, protecting, and distributing confidential data. Skill in the use of a computer and applicable software, in analyzing problems and devising effective solutions, in conducting data searches, in evaluating and translating large amounts of data, and in critical thinking. Ability to compile, review, and analyze data; to prepare reports; to maintain accuracy and attention to detail; and to communicate effectively. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate well, present ideas and solution to executives and coherently discuss complex topics with both technical and business audiences. Successful partnering experience with technology departments, data integration and decision science-based resources to solve complex business problems. Provides subject matter expertise in operationalizing recommendations. Experience in mentoring fellow analyst and keeping relevant skills up to date. Experience with SQL and Python. Understanding of AWS platforms and tools, particularly Amazon Redshift. Application of data privacy practices and laws to ensure privacy, security, and confidentiality, including HIPAA and IRB Approval. Proficient skills with Exploratory Data Analysis and Statistics. Proficient skills with modeling and forecasting beyond simple regression. Master Degree in Data Science, Analytics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences or other quantitative discipline. May consider professional experience and industry certifications in lieu of education. A minimum of 5 years of experience is strongly preferred.
