Position Description

The School of Interdisciplinary Studies at The University of Texas at Dallas is hiring a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Instruction for the fall of 2025. This position involves teaching four courses per semester. These courses may include classes in American Studies or another interdisciplinary field, advanced writing, first-year experience seminar, and upper-division courses in the candidate's area of expertise. A PhD in American Studies or another interdisciplinary field and teaching experience is required. We are seeking a dynamic, engaging instructor who is committed to interdisciplinary approaches, creative pedagogy, and building our programs. Field of research specialization is open. Salary is negotiable and includes a full benefits package. Starting date is August 1, 2025. Application deadline is April 25, 2025. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience: A PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline is required prior to employment. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.

The School of Interdisciplinary Studies

The School of Interdisciplinary Studies at The University of Texas at Dallas provides an environment that allows students to understand and integrate the liberal arts and sciences. Prepare and teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes

Contribute assessment information and data as requested

Mentor and/or advise undergraduate and/or graduate students

Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on teaching and research constraints

Teach eight (8) classes each academic year
