About VP Business Affairs
The Division of Business Affairs oversees many elements of doing business at UTEP, including human resources, the budget office, and accounting and financial services. In addition, the VPBA Office manages business contracts and agreements, institutional memberships, the University’s risk management/insurance program, and the open records process. Our goal is to support the University’s teaching, research and public service mission by providing superior services to the campus community.
Accounting and Financial Reporting
The Financial Reporting department at The University of Texas at El Paso serves to assist with external and internal financial reporting requirements. Our primary role is to disseminate accurate and timely reports to management and external stakeholders. These reports play an important part in educating stakeholders about the University’s financial standing and allows them to make informed decisions. The Financial Reporting department also handles the accounting of construction and capital projects.
Position Information
Hiring Department: Accounting and Financial Reporting
Posting End Date: Open until filled.
Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends
FLSA status: Non-exempt
Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.
Salary: $25,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Required Application Materials
Summary: To provide clerical work and supervisory skills for maintaining a complex inventory system on campus. Any qualifications to be considered as equivalent, in lieu of stated minimum, require the prior approval of the Director, Human Resource Services Office.
Responsible for receiving and issuing property items, maintaining property accounting records, assigning property numbers, affixing identifying tags to new equipment and disposing obsolete items.

Assists in the year end closing, helps to research assets that have not been tagged or processed.
Assists in creating missing asset reports.
Records and maintains files on all tagged property
Works directly with all campus departments to determine location of purchased property
Conducts physical inventories within the university campus
Assists with the training of student-employees and staff.
Assists department’s with their inventory lists using PeopleSoft Query Viewer.
Assists in revising staff and work study duties and responsibilities.
Assists in maintaining a safe work environment by ensuring staff and work studies follow safety procedures.
In absence of the inventory supervisor, the Clerk III will oversee staff and work studies.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Driver’s License with a good driving record.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's objectives, policies and applicable laws.
