To provide support to the cybersecurity advising staff for; cybersecurity training, management, technical assistance, and information services Texas small businesses.
The Cybersecurity Business Research Assistant will support the Texas Small Business Cybersecurity Assistance Center (TSBCAC) by providing initial cybersecurity support to small businesses, assisting with training sessions, and contributing to various cybersecurity initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience and develop cybersecurity skills in a professional setting.

- Provide initial support to small businesses seeking cybersecurity guidance, utilizing available resources to address common queries and issues.
- Assist with the organization and delivery of cybersecurity training sessions, both virtual and in-person.
- Support cybersecurity professionals in conducting assessments, developing security plans, and implementing cybersecurity measures.
- Help maintain the TSBCAC website by updating content, managing the live chat feature, and ensuring the availability of on-demand training and resources.
- Track and document interactions with small businesses using a CRM system to ensure efficient service delivery and follow-ups.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance cybersecurity knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with team members to develop and improve cybersecurity resources and training materials.
- Attend cybersecurity professional development workshops and seminars relating to small businesses.
- Assist in the preparation of program reports.
- Attend local staff meetings.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and develop professional skills in the cybersecurity field.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and website management is a plus.
- Efficient oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work and take initiative without close supervision.
- Ability to deal with a wide variety of individuals and organizations; confidentiality essential.
- Knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment.
- Knowledge of database management preferred.
