Job Summary
The Librarian I- Social Sciences Liaison supports social science programs, including anthropology, communication, criminal justice, economics, history, geography, government, philosophy & religion, political science, psychology & counseling, public administration, and sociology. This position provides a full range of information support to students and faculty for student success, teaching and research.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
- Provides research consultations and reference services in-person and virtually to students, faculty and staff.
- Develops and provides specialized online and in-person information literacy and library resource instruction.
- Creates online guides and digital or physical exhibitions to promote resources.
- Selects materials in coordination with the Head of Electronic Resources & Collection.
- Engages in activities that contribute to the advancement of the Library, the university, and the library profession.
- Maintains awareness of professional developments, issues, and practices that positively impact one's performance and service contributions.
- Coordinates library outreach, marketing, promotion.
- Serves as the Library's point of contact for the assigned areas.
- Develops and performs other relevant discipline-specific collections activities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
- May accept a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Educational background in social science-related field, educational background in pedagogy or teaching experience.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
