Coordinator of Pre-Health Careers
Job Description
This position involves creating, directing, and coordinating holistic programming and platforms related to preparing students to successfully reach career goals in the range of health occupations and manages partnerships across the University, with alumni, and with external partners.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

- Works closely with faculty to assist in recruiting students into the various undergraduate pre-health tracks (toward Medical School, Physician Assistant programs, Nursing, Public Health, Dentistry, Athletic Training, Speech Language Pathology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, etc.) and associated programs.
- Develop/refine pathway guides and advises students on their activities for health career readiness.
- Empowers students to develop and implement realistic graduate school or career implementation plans.
- Increases awareness and promotion of experiential learning opportunities to students.
- Plan, develop, and coordinate workshops and curriculum in the areas of career path awareness and readiness/ preparation (shadowing, internships, test prep, research, application prep) for acceptance to graduate programs (MD, PA, Nursing, Public Health, Dentistry, Veterinary).
- Develop and foster networking, to include local mentor pairing (local practitioners meeting periodically with students) and alumni networking (MDs, PAs, nurses).
- Engage in educational outreach and community involvement.
- Create and coordinate test prep (MCAT, DAT, GRE/PA-CAT, etc.).
- Coordinate high school outreach programs.
- Work with and support student pre-health occupation clubs.
- Coordinate committee letters of support for student applications.
- Collaborate, support, and assist the faculty pre-health professions committee in preparation for meetings and the collection and reporting of admission placement data.
- Support other activities in furtherance of student preparedness and competitiveness for health occupations.
- Provide excellent service through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
- Collaborate with academic and student support administrators, specifically with Faculty Mentors, Career Coaches, and Student Success Coaches.
- Participates in relevant Career Center, Success Center, and other University events and programs.
- Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrated ability to effectively guide students in operationalizing academic and career goals.
- Experience with various applications utilized in higher education for content delivery, academic advising, student support and retention, and communication.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and collaboratively to establish and
- accomplish common goals.
- Continuous improvement mindset with the analytical ability to interpret and utilize data for
- program improvement and student support.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain an elevated level of confidentiality.
- High attention to detail, demonstrated practice of establishing effective priorities and meeting
- deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Relevant experience working in higher education with medical/clinical disciplines.
- Broad knowledge of various pre-health disciplines and admissions requirements and processes. Previous experience working in a student support, admissions, or advising office preferred. Previous experience working with faculty and staff across multiple colleges and disciplines preferred.
