Job Description
The Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) functions within the policies, practices and program plans of the Department of Nursing at the organization. Under the supervisor of the Baird 5 (Inpatient Pediatrics) Nurse Manager, s/he is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating Child Life programming for the hospitalized children that is designed to further the social, emotional and physical well-being of children within the hospital setting. In addition, s/he is also responsible for overseeing pediatric volunteers and for orienting hospital staff to the psychosocial and developmental needs of children and their families.

Under the supervisor of the Baird 5 (Inpatient Pediatrics) Nurse Manager, s/he is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating Child Life programming for the hospitalized children that is designed to further the social, emotional and physical well-being of children within the hospital setting. Education
- Bachelors degree in Child Life required. Masters degree in Child Life preferred.
- Previous completion of 600-hour internship under the direct supervision of a CCLS required.
- Certification as a CCLS is preferred. Certification within 6 months of hire required.
- At least 1 year experience working as a Child Life Specialist preferred.
- Inpatient Pediatrics will cover the cost of certification and recertification!
