Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in behavioral health and be skilled in various therapeutic techniques. This role involves providing support and guidance to clients facing emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges. The Counselor will work collaboratively with clients to develop personalized treatment plans and facilitate their journey toward improved mental health and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessments to understand clients' needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and psychotherapy, to support clients in achieving their goals.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide grief counseling and support for individuals dealing with loss or trauma.
- Implement dance therapy sessions as a creative outlet for self-expression and healing when applicable.
- Work with geriatric clients to address age-related mental health issues and provide tailored care strategies.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in the field.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
- Valid licensure or certification in counseling or therapy as per state regulations.
- Experience in behavioral health settings is preferred, with a focus on patient care and support.
- Familiarity with medical documentation practices and HIPAA compliance is essential.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of grief counseling techniques and experience working with individuals experiencing loss is a plus.
- Experience or training in dance therapy is desirable but not mandatory.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
