Position Summary
In accordance with the mission and values of The Village of St. Edward, the Director of Resident Life plans, organizes, directs and carries out a program of activities which cover spiritual development, recreation, diversion, intellectual/educational development for residents as an integral part of resident care in our Nursing Care, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Independent Living areas.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field, to include Recreational Therapy, required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in providing activity services to elderly.
- Activity Director Certified (ADC) through NCCAP, Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) or Certified Therapeutic Recreation Therapist required.
- Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) required.
- Certified feeding assistant required, will have to complete within three months of employment.
- 1-3 years of experience in a supervisory position overseeing activities and programming.
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record required
- Able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance.
- Possess the ability to bend, stoop and reach at different angles.
- Walk, stand and sit intermittently during the day.
- Must work with residents, families and public on personal basis.
- Availability to work on weekends, evenings, and holidays. Ability to be flexible due to potential of unknowns and rapidly shifting responsibilities.
- Demonstrates evidence of leadership abilities and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication including verbal, written, and presentation to varied audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and timely outcomes.
- Knowledgeable of principles of growth and development for the entire life span with the ability to provide activities appropriate for the adult and geriatric residents.
- Must have an understanding of the social, psychological and recreational needs of the aged as well as other types of residents in long-term care and must be able to plan and organize activities geared to these needs.
- Specific knowledge of Word, Excel and email or the willingness and ability to learn quickly. Use of range of information technology applications to fulfill the requirements of the position, produce necessary reports accurately and timely, and/or improve the functionality of the department as a whole.
- Willingness to learn other software systems
- Knowledge of Point Click Care (PCC) preferred
