The Village School of Naples is growing and is now accepting resumes for Teacher Assistants (Lower School) for the 2025-2026 school year. The Teacher Assistant will work directly under the guidance of a Lead Teacher to support and guide students. This role is ideal for compassionate, self-motivated individuals with a strong interest in education. Teacher Assistants will supervise and work with children of various ages and educational needs individually, in small groups, or in whole group settings. They will assist in implementing effective lesson plans, helping students understand concepts being taught, and maintaining an organized classroom environment.

You will collaborate closely with the Lead Teacher to understand the needs of the class and assist with record-keeping, planning, and preparation. Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow the Lead Teacher’s guidance in establishing a positive tone for students.
- Ensure the safety of students throughout the school day.
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning objectives.
- Model Christ Skills, consistently demonstrating this conduct model.
- Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
- Copy, prepare, and distribute classroom materials.
- Assist with various classroom tasks, such as grading assignments and taking attendance.
- Transition students to related arts classes, lunch, and other activities while modeling positive behavior.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, field trips, etc.
- Support students’ social, emotional, and academic growth, reporting concerns to the Lead Teacher.
- Maintain open communication with the classroom teacher and support the school’s mission and objectives.
- Assist substitute teachers as needed when the classroom teacher is absent.
- Support distance learning efforts during extended school closures, including providing course content, answering student inquiries, monitoring progress, and updating records.
- Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Spoken and written language skills must be strong and knowledge of English language and used appropriately.
- Must be nurturing, enjoy being with children and interacting with them on a daily basis.
- Demonstrate strong support for the stated learning philosophy of The Village School. Workshops and extra study may be required to ensure a thorough understanding of the philosophy.
- Understanding of 21st century classroom practices and interdisciplinary connections is required.
- Technology skills must be strong.
- Must be able to articulate their faith and support the school’s Christian environment.
- Demonstrate strong distance learning skills through computer proficiency, teaching aptitudes, communication, reliability, and attention to details.
- Physically, the position of teacher assistant requires sitting, walking, standing, and ability to lift up to 10 lbs. without assistance.
