The Village School of Naples is seeking a passionate and dynamic Upper School Theatre Educator. We are looking for an educator who fosters creativity, collaboration, and confidence in students through an engaging and comprehensive theatre arts program.
The Theatre Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing a theatre curriculum that includes acting, directing, stage production, and performance. This role includes directing school productions, coordinating extracurricular drama activities, and inspiring students to develop their skills in the performing arts.
- Develop and teach a theatre arts curriculum that covers acting techniques, stagecraft, playwriting, and theatre history.
- Direct and produce school performances, including plays, musicals, and showcases.
- Provide opportunities for students to engage in theatre beyond the classroom, including drama clubs, workshops, and competitions.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages students of all skill levels to participate in theatre.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide events.
- Manage production logistics, including rehearsals, set design, costumes, and technical aspects.
- Maintain theatre facilities, props, and equipment.
- Encourage students to explore creativity and self-expression through performance.
- Support student growth by providing constructive feedback and fostering a culture of artistic excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Teaching experience in theatre arts, preferably at the middle or high school level.
- Experience directing and producing school or community theatre productions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of technical theatre, including lighting, sound, and set design, is a plus.
- Passion for arts education and inspiring young performers.
