JOB TITLE: Mental Health Clinician
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing specified mental health services to Unaccompanied Children in the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) Shelter program. The Clinician is the care provider staff who supports the mental health, safety and wellbeing of every child in care .The Clinician manages a case load of twelve minors and provides oversight for the child’s mental and emotional health.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: A Master’s Degree from an accredited clinical program in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or other relevant behavioral science in which direct clinical experience is a program requirement. Clinician must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Kansas. Must pass a KBI and CANIS background check. A good driving record in order to be insured by The Villages’ insurance company.
Preferred: Bilingual (Spanish/English) language competency in both spoken and written forms is required.
LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible to the Lead Clinician
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
DUTIES:
E = essential function, M = marginal function
1. Meets all predetermined deadlines required by Federal partners and program supervisor. (E)
2. Screens for trauma and child abuse including sexual abuse and human trafficking. (E)
3. Screens for risk of harm to self or others and recommends appropriate response. (E)
4. Contribute to individual service plan (ISP) for each minor. (E)
5. Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy. (E)
6. Provide oversight for minor’s mental and emotional health. (E)
7. Provide crisis intervention as needed. (E)
8. Assess need for higher level of mental health care and/or ORR placement, including outside referral for psychological evaluations. (E)
9. Coordinates with Case Manager, Case Coordinator, Medical Personnel, and other team members regarding reunification of youth with parent/sponsor. (E)
10. Maintains clinical case file materials according to ORR and Kansas state licensing policies and procedures. (E)
11. Participate in workshops, seminars, education programs that promote professional growth and development.(E)
12. Maintains appropriate, satisfactory and harmonious relationships with the public, co-workers, other employees and youth. (E)
13. Provides line of sight and sound supervision of youth at all times. (E)
14. Accepts additional duties as assigned. (M)
