Within the spirit of “Making People’s Dreams Come True”, this position is responsible for creating engaging written content for a variety of marketing channels that will inspire and illuminate The Villages’ lifestyle, Florida’s Friendliest Hometown. This role uses creative expertise to work closely with Creative Director(s), Art Director(s), Graphic Designer(s) and Marketing Manager(s) to ensure error-free, content that is in alignment with brand standards and client requests. This position’s organizational skills and attention to detail allow for balancing many projects at once and seamlessly contributing to multiple aspects of the desired marketing mi and is a vital part of the Marketing Team. These duties are accomplished while delivering Raving Fans customer service to both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities:
- Create Villages copy consistent with The Villages brand, culture, and values.
- Write clear, compelling copy in alignment with a distinct brand voice.
- Interpret marketing briefs and creative direction that adapts insights and collaboration into persuasive copy concepts.
- Generate contextual copy for all marketing channels including print (brochures, advertising), digital (social, video, web) and scripts.
- Ensure brand voice consistency across all marketing communications and stays within brand guidelines.
- Research information to provide insightful content, asking great questions to meet project scope and objectives.
- Edit and proof to ensure high editorial standards are met and exceeded across all content outputs (ex: grammar, punctuation, etc.).
- Manage multiple projects with short deadlines simultaneously.
- Participate in continuing education to include attending workshops, reading publications, researching, and learning new concepts to stay current and up to date in the industry regarding job related software, tools, trends, and methodologies.
- Attend special team meetings, educational sessions and assists leadership in ongoing training of team members as asked.
- Utilize office computer and office equipment (copier, fax, etc.) along with a host of other software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and related marketing technology and copywriting tools.
- Assist Marketing Team in their overall initiatives as requested.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Journalism, English, Communications, or related fields and five (5) years dedicated copywriting experience within marketing or agency; or ten (10) years’ total in copywriting role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- This position requires a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Superb English language skills required to include spelling, punctuation, and grammar, etc.
- Must demonstrate excellent creative writing skills and be able to provide a strong portfolio of past work to include experience in all channels (ex: print, digital, scripts).
- Must be able to write under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. SEO writing experience a plus.
- Past writing experience for a 55 retirement community a plus.
