Position Summary
Provide nursing care for residents according to established standards and practices relating to basic nursing, restorative, and personal care services where quality assurance, resident safety, and infection control are inherent responsibilities of the position. This position will report to the Executive Director of the community.
Primary Responsibilities
Adhere to the scope of practice for nursing licensure per regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain a close working relationship with community leadership to foster resident family support and resident welfare. Maintain effective professional relations with residents, staff, and visitors.
- Review incident reports and follow-up notes regularly to ensure state-reportable incidents are properly communicated to Senior Leadership team and regulatory body.
- Conduct inventory and monitor efficient use of medical/nursing supplies.
- Communicate changes of residents’ conditions with the responsible party and community leadership. Ensure congruency of service provision to the assessed level of care.
- Understand and implement company policies and procedures. Perform regular quality assurance audits and employ appropriate QA interventions to ensure compliance to established delivery of care guidelines.
- Supervise directly or indirectly the LPNs, CNAs, and caregivers. Lead and ensure appropriate orientation, ongoing, and state-required trainings for care staff are met.
- Responsible for hiring, training employees, appraising performance, issuing corrective action plans in collaboration with HR, and resolving problems in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director in managing overtime and integrating appropriate staffing plans.
- Supervise medication delegation processes and verify competency of medication aides as allowable by State regulations pertaining to the state of Louisiana.
Qualifications:
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate judgment skills and independent clinical decisions in routine and emergency resident care matters, with the ability to manage and lead the clinical staff.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours when necessary to meet the needs of the residents
- Excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to conduct resident assessments and required trainings for professional development.
Valid LPN licensure to practice in state of Louisiana required.
