What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at The Virginia Cliffe Inn?
The Virginia Cliffe Inn is seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team in Glen Allen, VA! The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities by performing a variety of maintenance tasks. This role requires an effective understanding of facilities maintenance to include electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and/or HVAC.
Previous experience in facilities maintenance is highly preferred, but not a must. The Maintenance Technician will play a key role in maintaining equipment, supervising projects, and ensuring all maintenance work is completed efficiently and effectively.
Please Note:
- The Maintenance Technician will serve as an On-Call emergency technician during events at the facility
- On-call hours would primarily be weekends, and evenings and would also include daily maintenance of the Main House, other structures, and the ground areas.
- Must be willing to work a minimum of 20 hours per week
General duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door & wall repair
- Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures
- Diagnosing damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
- Maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly
- Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems, such as cleaning gutters and removing debris from roofs
- Keeping inventory of tools, supplies, and materials owned by The Virginia Cliffe Inn and maintaining our storage areas in a clean, and orderly manner
- Recognizing and correcting potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
- Inspecting the grounds and buildings to see what general maintenance needs to be done and completing it on a weekly basis.
- Painting the building, rooms, fences, etc. when old paint has become faded or chipped
- Other duties as assigned by owner
Requirements:
- Strong communication and customer service skills as you will often interact with staff and customers
- Ability to respond to emergency calls within 10 minutes
- Basic computer skills such as email, and ability to search and potentially order items online
- Capable of carrying loads up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to use ladders to access roof areas
- Experience with professional maintenance tools and how to maintain them
- Skill in multiple areas including structural repair, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, etc.
