Job Description:
As a Host at Hickory, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment they arrive. With at least 1 year of restaurant experience, you will assist with seating guests, managing reservations, and ensuring a smooth flow of service to enhance the dining experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet guests with a friendly and welcoming demeanor as they arrive at the restaurant, providing information about wait times, reservations, and seating options.
- Manage the reservation book and seating chart, coordinating with servers and management to optimize table turnover and guest satisfaction.
- Escort guests to their tables and present menus, providing assistance with seating arrangements and accommodating special requests whenever possible.
- Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth coordination of seating and service during peak dining hours.
- Assist with answering phone calls, taking reservations, and providing information about the restaurant's menu, hours of operation, and special events.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the host stand and lobby area, including menu displays, signage, and promotional materials.
- Monitor the dining room for seating availability, anticipating guest needs and preferences to facilitate a positive dining experience.
- Assist with special events, private parties, and other functions as needed, providing support to the front-of-house team to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Uphold the Nicewonder Inn's standards of hospitality and service excellence, exceeding guest expectations with every interaction.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in hospitality or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of restaurant experience, preferably in a host or guest service role.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a friendly and approachable attitude.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, with a positive and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
