What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President of Health Services position at The Visiting Nurse Health Services?
This employee is a member of the Leadership Team, which is responsible for the development and communication of the VNA vision and strategic plan and achievement of agency goals in concert with the mission and values of the organization. This includes development of revenue producing programs (fee for service, insurance based, and collaborative partnerships). The team is also responsible for carrying out the management philosophy, and ensuring quality, in the agency. The Vice President of Health Services is responsible for representation of VNHS issues on the Leadership Team and delivery of public health services throughout the corporation.
Responsibilities
- Defines the overall vision and focus for Health Services within the VNA vision and goals.
- Promotes the growth of the VNA by professionally representing the organization, its mission, and its role in the community.
- Implements governing body directives, policies, and elements of the strategic plan related to community health services.
- Manages performance of a variety of community health programs.
- Develops leadership skills within the Health Services manager group. Assists managers to establish goals, allocate resources, deliver quality services and evaluate services/programs.
- Maintains knowledge of individual program data collection systems and the integration of program operations.
- Assures ongoing quality improvement in community programs.
- Is responsible for overseeing budget preparation and fiscal management.
- Collaborates with VNA Fund Development in grant writing, reports and management.
- Negotiates agreements and contracts with other agencies as delegated by the President/CEO and Leadership Team when appropriate.
- Establishes and maintains effective communication and teamwork within all Health Service programs as well as within other VNA departments.
- Assures partnerships and collaboration with other community agencies in the delivery of community health services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, business, health administration or closely related subject required, master’s degree preferred.
- Active license to practice as a Registered Nurse, Social Worker, in the State of Nebraska, or a master’s degree in public health.
- Five or more years progressive leadership/management responsibility in a similar size company. Ability to collect, analyze, and utilize a variety of data in program planning and evaluation. Thorough knowledge of the theory and practice of local, state and national public health issues. Thorough knowledge of leadership methods as they apply to health services organization, personnel, planning and financial.
