Position Description
We are looking for an accomplished Functional Lead in welding fabrication to join our custom manufacturing team in Newport, MN. The ideal candidate will have overall competence in welding and fabrication, along with strong capability to interpret and execute detailed blueprints and engineering drawings. This role involves overseeing welding projects with a focus on precision and high-quality output, while also collaborating with team members and ensuring that custom-made components meet stringent standards. In addition, this role oversees daily operations, team management, coordination of workflow and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Welding Fabrication
- Extensive comprehension of TIG welding techniques on different materials such as steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
- Manufacture metal components and assemblies through advanced processes of cutting, shaping, and joining metal parts ensuring strict adherence to detailed specifications
- Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner
Blueprint Interpretation
- Analyze and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to verify precise specifications and execute exact specifications for advanced welding and fabrication tasks
- Use precision measuring instruments and gauges to guarantee compliance with design specifications and requirements
Quality and Collaboration
- Inspect finished components for compliance with design specifications and quality standards
- Perform routine checks and adjustments to maintain welding parameters and ensure high-quality welds
- Partner with engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure that custom projects are completed to client specifications and within project timelines
- Determine and provide input on design improvements and suggest solutions to fabrication challenges.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Additional Responsibilities
- Monitor, plan, and collaborate daily production activities with planning and engineering to manage workflow effectively
- Approve timecards daily to ensure accurate submissions
- Mentor your team, providing guidance and support
- Facilitate team meetings to communicate expectations, safety protocols and production updates
- Work order review and oversite to ensure accurate clocking in/out
Qualifications
- High school, GED, or equavilent diploma or education completed
- 4 years of related TIG welding experience and 1 years of experience in a leadership role
- Complete knowledge to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Boundless experience with metal working tools and equipment
- Excellent problem solving skills and ability to adapt swiftly to changing circumstances
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well with others
- Technical degree in welding fabrication preferred
- Experience in a custom manufacturing site preferred
- Extensive knowledge in TIG welding
