Job Summary
The Waverly Assisted Living is searching for an energetic and creative activities assistant to engage our residents and ensure they enjoy each day to the fullest!
You will assist with our activities and work closely with residents, families and other departments. The job requires extended periods of bending, standing, assisting residents and walking are required. Memory care experience is desired.
Work schedule is Wednesday-Friday and Saturday 9:00 am- 5:00 pm. You must be able to pass a Level II background screen.

Duties
- Plan and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Assist in the development of individualized activity plans that cater to residents' needs, including those with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and social workers to ensure activities align with residents' care plans and promote their overall well-being.
- Communicate effectively with residents to encourage participation and gather feedback on activities.
- Support residents in performing Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed, fostering independence while providing assistance.
- Maintain a safe and engaging environment during all activities, ensuring that all materials and equipment are appropriate for use.
- Document participation levels and report any changes in resident behavior or health to the appropriate staff members.
Requirements
- Experience in event planning or organizing group activities is preferred.
- Background in recreational therapy, social work, or related fields is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities, particularly in a nursing home or memory care setting.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is an asset.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion, patience, and understanding when working with diverse populations.
- A commitment to promoting an inclusive environment that respects the dignity and individuality of each resident.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 per week
