SUMMARY
The Dean is charged with overseeing student life during The Webb Schools Summer Programs. This involves working with faculty, residential staff, and the Director of Experiential Learning to manage the residential, afternoon, and evening programs. The Dean of Students will also oversee student health and safety and help coordinate the residential staff. The Dean of Students will collaborate with other summer school faculty and residential staff to create and maintain a fun and collaborative learning environment for students. All faculty members who work at The Webb Schools are expected to contribute positively and productively to a campus community that promotes the development of honor, leadership, and service.

RELATIONSHIPS
The Dean of Students reports to the Director of Experiential Learning, supervises the Assistant Dean of Students, and must work closely with summer program faculty and staff to help create a positive and safe environment for learning and discovery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborating with the Director of Experiential Learning to establish the vision and direction of the Junior Scholars Program.
- Developing and overseeing an afternoon, evening, and weekend, residential program that fosters community and ensures student health, wellness, and safety.
- Working with the Director of Experiential Learning to coordinate the Summer Programs Fellows, including their training, schedule, and support.
- Collaborating with the Director of Experiential Learning to supervise the Summer Program Fellows.
- Collaborating with the Assistant Dean of Students and other summer faculty to create meaningful connections between academic day, afternoon, and evening programming.
- Working with the Assistant Dean to supervise the afternoon, evening, and weekend schedule and daily operations.
- Reviewing and revising the Summer Programs student handbook and overseeing student discipline.
- Communicating with other school departments about residential needs.
- Problem-solving and working with individual students and families along with the Director of Experiential Learning to address student needs and concerns throughout the program.
- Promoting the development of honor, character, and leadership in all dealings with students, including enforcing school rules.
- Working with the Director to ensure the safe, smooth, and effective implementation of all other facets of the Junior Scholar's program.
- Working on-site before and during the program; the approximate time frame for the position is June 3 to July 30, with some work needing completion during the spring of 2025.
- Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The Dean of Students supervises the Assistant Dean of Students and co-supervises fellows.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree or higher and some teaching experience preferred. Experience with residential programs, boarding schools and student life preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
A current California driver license and satisfactory motor vehicle record is required. A criminal background check must be successfully completed before employment can begin.
OTHER SKILLS
Able to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators.

COMPENSATION PHILOSOPHY
Anticipated salary range: $7,000 - $7,500. Salary will be dependent on the level of experience. The Webb Schools offer competitive compensation. In setting position ranges, Webb reviews numerous factors including industry data from NAIS, CAIS, NBOA, and other market data.
