What are the responsibilities and job description for the News Reporter position at The Wenatchee World?
The Wenatchee World is seeking a full-time general assignment reporter with an eye for enterprise to report primarily on business and industry news affecting a four-county area in stunning North Central Washington, along the Columbia River at the base of the Cascade mountains.
The Wenatchee World is part of a group of publications including magazines and a local TV station. All Wenatchee World reporters and editors contribute content that may be used by any and all of these platforms, giving writers an extraordinarily wide reach and a variety of valuable learning experiences.
Responsibilities:
Developing sources and establishing relationships with local business owners and industry leaders in the private and public sectors, as well as the agricultural industry.
Reporting on new businesses (including new ownership or expansion), data centers, and large-footprint service providers such as Microsoft and Amazon, as well as business trends and legislation affecting local businesses.
Other story assignments, as required.
Qualifications:
- A journalism degree or journalism experience
- Experience in multimedia storytelling is preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus
- Photo/video skills are a big plus
- Understanding of journalistic ethics
- Knowledge of AP style and the ability to produce clean copy
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional nights and weekends
Pay range depending on education and experience: $36,500 to $44,700.
