Role Brief:
The Operations Manager will report to the Head of Operations and will work toward ensuring a cohesive and efficient business environment, with the central objective of optimal team performance. This a holistic operations role that will have an oversight and understanding of all WHEAT Stores & The Strand Cafes. The Operations Manager will work directly with the Head of Operations to oversee daily business operations and act as a liaison between different departments to improve performance and work efficiency. The Operations Manager will communicate with in-store teams on a routine basis to ensure expectations are upheld. They will hire and manage, Store Managers and ensure they are trained and have the materials needed to train new Team Members. They will be integral in creating processes within each store to ensure the team has all the tools to meet monthly sales goals. This position requires both anticipatory and reactionary identification of operational opportunities and risks, whilst providing solutions for the same, together with the help of all relevant departments, if required. A strong, proactive approach is key to the success of this role, and the Operations Manager will have a very particular attention to detail with a natural propensity for organization. The Operations Manager will be expected to monitor and implement WHEAT's service standards and protocols, and concurrently develop an understanding of what is needed for future store openings. This role will involve remaining at newly opened locations, from time to time, to ensure a smooth transition between the pre-open and post-open phases, and will have strong oversight that the on-site team is well trained and aligned with WHEAT's goals and objectives. The person in this role is expected to be a strong representation of company goals and standards, and will have a firm grasp on the importance of organization and critical details pertaining to all facets of the operations department, WHEAT Holdings, LLC, and it's partners. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast paced retail role, with administrative experience, and will show a sense of urgency with all assigned projects and timelines. The ideal candidate will also be a self-starter with a passion for creating systems and structure in an effort to increase efficiencies within an operations department, and must be an excellent communicator with superlative team-integration and collaborative inclinations.
Responsibilities include:
- Handling requests from Head of Operations
- Actively producing new initiatives and working to make big picture impacts on the overall future of the Operations Department
- Helping to manage all locations; ensuring that they are fully staffed and operational, at all times
- Working amongst all home office departments to ensure projects are being completed
- Preparing and organizing department information, per company standards
- Assisting in multiple areas of the Operations department to ensure efficient work flow
- Proficient in different POS systems and equipments that are utilized in each store for setup/troubleshooting needs
- Communicating with all stores when questions arise using the teams channels
- Candidate will be located on the East Coast and be available to work at the office, located in Dover, NH at least 3 days per week, with a willingness to travel to all WHEAT locations, both East & West coast as well as internationally from time to time as it pertains to other WHEAT Home Office locations and/or prospective, new and existing store locations.
- Upholding and co-ordinating current and future trainings of retail and cafe team members with location manager
Skills & Qualifications:
-A degree in a relevant field is preferred, but not essential - Experience in retail and/or management roles within an operations department (or similar)
- Experience in a cafe and/or F&B environment is preferred but not essential
- Proven track record in improving overall operations
- Excellent team building and organizational skills - Proven track record of high-pressure, time-sensitive decision making - Highly proficient in Microsoft Suite is preferred
- Understanding of Canva, with the ability to format a range of documents is preferred
The ideal candidate will need to be self-motivated, organized and accountable, with ability to balance time, prioritize effectively, and juggle multiple projects. In-store coverage may be required at times if needed to maintain operational consistency.
