Job Summary:
The Vice President of Utility Business Development is a key role responsible for driving growth and expanding The Will Group's footprint in the utility market. This role will oversee the strategic development and execution of sales initiatives to promote and sell the full suite of The Will Group's service offerings, with a focus on Engineering, Warehousing services, and Distribution.
The VP will lead the identification and cultivation of new business opportunities, develop lasting relationships with key stakeholders across utility organizations, and work closely with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions that align with client needs. A deep understanding of the utility sector, coupled with strong leadership and strategic thinking, is essential to ensure The Will Group achieves its growth objectives while maintaining its commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including utility executives, project managers, and procurement teams.
- Help to Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to grow The Will Group's presence and market share in the utility sector.
- Identify and prioritize target markets, clients, and opportunities for expansion of services.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and market dynamics to identify growth opportunities and potential challenges.
- Oversee the execution of sales initiatives to promote The Will Group's full suite of service offerings to utility organizations.
- Lead the development of compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches tailored to client needs and objectives.
- Establish and track performance metrics to evaluate the success of sales strategies and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their goals, challenges, and operational needs to provide tailored solutions.
- Foster long-term partnerships that result in repeat business and client referrals.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, operations, and project management, to align service offerings with client expectations and market demands.
- Work with business units for quoting products and services.
- Ensure seamless delivery of solutions by effectively coordinating between internal departments and external clients.
- Provide feedback to internal teams regarding market needs to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
- Provide guidance and support to team members to achieve individual and collective goals.
- Promote professional development and establish training programs to enhance team capabilities.
- Drive revenue growth through the successful acquisition of new clients and expansion of existing client relationships.
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial targets for the utility business development function.
- Ensure profitable growth by aligning sales efforts with operational capacity and cost efficiency.
- Represent The Will Group at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to enhance brand visibility and credibility.
- Complies with established company work rules, policies, and procedures.
- Actively engages with other members of the company to continuously strive to improve processes, create efficiencies, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
- Cooperatively takes on other duties, roles, or responsibilities, as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven ability to develop and execute business development strategies.
- Strong sales and negotiation skills for managing complex sales cycles.
- Deep understanding of the utility market, including construction, lighting, infrastructure, and supply chain solutions.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field (required).
- Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
- Relevant certifications or training in sales, leadership, or utility-specific programs is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Travel to other locations as needed.
- Ability to access all work locations
- Ability to walk/stand for up to 8 hours during industry events
Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 annually commensurate with experience with additional bonus plan based on results.
